cute, easy, and cheap

so i have been wanting to try and make cute burp cloths and i had the perfect opportunity. i went to a baby shower a few weeks ago and decided to make some. it was so much fun going to find some cute fabric! thats my favorite part. and i found a tutorial online on how to make these and its super easy.
i bought this 12 pack of gerber cloth diapers at target. they were 6-ply and next time i make them i will try and find 4-ply (if they even make those) these were fine though. they were nice and thick but i think the 4-ply might be easier to sew on. i bought half a yard of each fabric and that should make about 4 burp cloths. before you start make sure and wash the diapers to pre-shrink them. thats very important from what i read online.
arent the fabrics cute?
next cut your fabric a couple inches longer and wider on both sides
because you will fold this over. the diapers i bought have a
distinct line so its a perfect template on where to cut the fabric
next fold each side over.

when you are done folding it should look like this.
next pin around the sides and begin sewing around the edges.
when you are done they will end like this! i love how they turned out
and i cant wait to make more.
these were so fun and so super easy. now if only i could monogram!
hope everyone had a wonderful monday and a great week

im surrounded by angels and i call them my friends.

last night was a fun girls night with girls from church. we had so much fun eating fondue and carving pumpkins. here are a few pictures.
lauren and i saw some pictures of painted pumpkins and wanted to try. being our first pumpkins to paint i think they turned out pretty cute :) i didnt get a close up of hers but here is mine. we both painted them onto a white pumpkin. I LOVE white pumpkins. i noticed depending on the paint you use it comes off pretty well if you mess up. just get a little water on a paper towel and wipe it off.
im going to have to work on it a bit. i dont like how the "fall" turned out. if only mine could look like these. arent they cute? maybe ill find some time to try it out again and paint some more.
of course if i do, ill let you know how they turn out. it sure does beat cleaning out the pumpkin and they last a lot longer then carving. hope you will find some time to paint :)

hope everyone is having a blessed sunday! go rangers!

its beginning to look a lot like FALL

ok im really excited today. my favorite time of year is FALL and today it alllmooost felt like fall. when i sit inside and look out the window it looks like fall
its cloudy and cold looking. but dont be fooled. the temperature has dropped a little (its still hot but its a start) i went to the farmers market today with my mom and while i was there bought some pumpkins! and i put out a couple of decorations. ok thats a start...it felt good. what im REALLY looking forward to is getting under a blanket at a football game, drinking hot cider and hot chocolate, making soups, baking bread, spending lots of time with family and friends, carving pumpkins, fall candles, the leaves turning, turning the a/c OFF, and prob the most exciting, wearing cardigans and boots (weird i know but its my favorite thing to wear) i cant wait for the chance to pull out my boots!! and the list could go on and on and on....
on another note..i havent had time to sit and write in a while! its been super busy. my mother in law came in town for a few days then my parents came in town for a quick trip. one of the main reasons my MIL (sara) came in town was to help me sew some things i have been wanting to get done and in the process teach me how to sew. and to top it off she left her old sewing machine for me to use!! how exciting! my curtains in the kitchen were short so we added length to them and in the guest bedroom we made shams and matching curtains. i love how everything turned out. its super cute. now im kinda hooked to sewing and cant wait to make something else. my next thing i want to make is a valance for my kitchen window to match the ones i did in the dining area. that will be my next project when i finish studying for my teaching test. speaking of my teaching test, jordan and i are going to our friends house tonight so lauren and i can study together and we are making dinner together when we go over there. so that sends me off.. i need to run to the store..i will be making creamed squash that i got at the farmers market today.. yummy! its one of my favorite things. hopefully everyone else likes squash but if they dont it wont hurt my feelings, i would love to have it all to myself ;)

saturday morning started out with a susan g komen "pink tea" at church. it was a lot of fun. i got to meet new people at church i didnt know, learn about breast cancer awarness, and celebrate those who are survivors. all the tables were set up so cute..heres a picture of our table and where i sat. also i discovered hot tea may just be my new favorite thing.
sunday was filled with church, eating, shopping, and football.

erin and i got these matching toms. didnt think i would like the sparkle until i put them on. love em

fun and free

ok i am super excited about this post! jordan and i have been wanting to do something with our wall behind the tv pretty much ever since we moved in. and yes a year later we are just now getting around to it. obviously as you can see from the post before we both suddenly have all this energy to get our apartment in order and like we want it. i have been thinking about doing a "gallery wall" behind the tv and last night found an amazing website that is now added to the favorites for FREE ART! its the new york public library digital gallery. digitalgallery.nypl.org
if you search around long enough you will find tons of different things that you can print out and make into art for your walls.
so one gallery wall project down on the list for free! we had the frames, had the mirror, and last night had so much fun finding things we liked that we thought would look good, hooked up the printer, push the button and ART! we like what we picked but im so liking this website i keep finding more things.. the fun thing about this is you can change the pictures out so easily. as christmas comes around maybe even stick a pic in there of an old magazine cover from december. so many options. its easy to add things and right now im on the seach for the perfect "B" to hang. i know the picture quality isnt the best. sorry! you get the idea. im headed out to tj maxx home goods today. my favorite store on earth and im hoping to get some good finds. if i find some, that will be a later blog post.
its friday!! have a wonderful weekend
hope this inspires you to be creative :)

much needed weekend

its so great to have a long weekend with the mr. we have been wanting to get so much done and never find the time so we made it a point this weekend to get stuff done and have some fun too! everyone says when you get married you suddenly have so much STUFF and thats so true. somehow we have so much stuff and have no idea how we got it all. having a guest bedroom it all ends up in there. our guestroom closet was actually no closet at all. you couldnt walk in it bc it was loaded with STUFF. so project 1 of the weekend. clean out the closet and start to D-CLUTTER. i should have taken a before pic but i forgot. here is the during and after. as you see i dont know how all of that was in our closet. it feels so good to be organized and everything in its place. we loaded up jordans car with TONS of trash and the next thing on the list is to take the 4 trash bags of donations somewhere. that was all saturday. to end our saturday of hard work we went to lauren and johnathan murrays wedding. it was so pretty and good to see some people we haven't seen in a while. im still mad because i forgot my camera :( at the wedding they had a screen you stand in front of and move around and "act" for 7 seconds and it compiles all the images for you in a little flip book. it was so fun! i had never seen that before. if your planning a wedding i recommend looking into it. sunday was a day of church and football and labor day was spent with good friends jeff and heather, nic and kylee, and nicole..cooking out and going to see the american.. dont waste your money!!
the last little project i accomplished was getting my bakers rack together. i went through my kitchen and tried to get all my things organized. if any kitchen or in my case eating area has space..i love bakers racks. they are a fun way to display things and when you are in an apartment like we are it frees up lots of cabinet space. im still playing around with it but for now i like it.
hope everyone has a wonderful tuesday
